    Help Please

    I installed apache web server, php, Mysql database and configured the Mysql to connect only to one user root and running on localhost. The every thing was OK until last I put a query to mysql
    GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON shop.* TO root@localhost identified by 'root' ;
    Now I can not connect to Mysql using the old password and I also tried to connect using localhost, user root and password root but still the access is denied by the Mysql. I even uninstalled and again installed Mysql but could not solve the problem. Please help me.

    Try to uninstall again and make sure that your "data" directory is deleted. If you are on windows it would probably be in c:\mysql\data. I think I have had the problem before where I uninstalled it but all the data was saved, even the mysql directory which contains the permissions. So delete this directory after the uninstall and then reinstall it. It should start you out with the default permissions again.
