Router: Alcatel Speed Touch Pro 4 Port Router
    OS: WinXP Pro
XPPro is what your running Apache on right?

If so XP has a built in Firewall that will block ports.
    Go to:
    • Control Panel - Network Connections
    • I'm going to assume you only have one network card so double click the Local Area Connection icon to view its status. (If you want to, you can go to the support Tab to get your ip info.)
    • Under the General tab click the properties button and select the advanced tab.
You will be able to turn the firewall off and on as well as adjust settings that open and close your ports. It's really simple.

I'm not familliar with the router though so I can't lend any advice there.

He did a typo, it should be:

    C:\>ping 202.72.177.77

OK, i can ping the ip without it timing out.

in the config file i can't specify a specific ip, if i do apache will not start.

    Example:
    #
    # Listen: Allows you to bind Apache to specific IP addresses and/or
    # ports, instead of the default. See also the <VirtualHost>
    # directive.
    #
    # Change this to Listen on specific IP addresses as shown below to
    # prevent Apache from glomming onto all bound IP addresses (0.0.0.0)
    #
    #Listen 12.34.56.78:80
    Listen 202.72.177.77:80

Apache will only start if set to:
    Listen 80

    Does this matter?

I refreshed the page, I see that you added a TEST FOLDER but I don't see pause and plod directories

    > also should you not see the index page insead on the directory?
    Don't you an index.php or index.html there ?
Eventually you can re-attach your httpd.conf again here.

Now it's a matter of configuring apache because we have bypassed, thanks to the guy who helped, the firewall blocks!

Well i'm not sure that it was 100% the firewall but thanks for reminding me about it anyway. The reason i asked to refresh was so i could tell which machine you could see.
Just be for you sent your message i installed apache on another machine on the lan (the first/original one) while still running the one i whant as the server. the one with test folder is the reinstalled orininal machine.

unfortunatly we/you can not see the server machine.
Oh well i'll just have to switch machines..

thanks for all your help guys
    May fortune favour the brave....

You may have tried this, but I know when I do port forwarding on my router (I have a similar setup using a dynamic DNS service and a DSL connection) I need to specify the local (LAN) IP address to bind the forwarded port on.

If you've switched server machines and are using something like DHCP, it says to me that maybe the local IP of your server machine has changed. In which case you need to change the port mapping on your router. This would also account for why we appear to be seeing the "old" server machine - i.e. the router is still forwarding port 80 requests to the old IP address.

Well, the IP of pharaohweb.dyndns.org and the IP you have given above are two different ones. For me, anyway.

    Pinging pharaohweb.dyndns.org: 202.72.131.230

    Edit:

If you have a static IP, why do you need to use dynamic DNS?

A DMZ host is basically one machine on (in your case) your local network that even though it's physically behind the router, you can set your router to allow this machine to be seen as if it were out on the net by itself.

All ports that you have open on your system are open to the internet. So it's sort of in a Zone outside your network on it's own.
