Newbie help - How to install Php in the computer?

    I have downloaded php 4.3.6 & 4.2 earlier.
Tried to install using the installer, but unfortunetely it didn't work.
    What should I do?

If you would like to install everything manually, then I would recommend reading the sample chapters by Kevin Yank, out of his book "Building a database driven website using PHP and MySQL". He provides a nice and detailed installation instruction. You can find that instruction here.

On the other hand, you could choose for a pre-installed package, like PHP Dev, which requires you to install a single package, and which will provide you with a running webserver with PHP pre-installed.

You cant use the installer if youre using apache, you have to download the other package. phpdev might be a good idea because it does it all for you

I use miniserver, the smallest available complete package of Apache, PHP and MySQL and it installs with one click.
