    make <td> span entire window height

    Hi!

    How can I force a <td></td> height to span the entire height of the browser window even if it contains elements that are not big enough for it to expand to the full height of the browser window? style="height: 100%;" and just plain height="100%" doesn't seem to work. I' using XHTML Transitional as my DTD.

    TIA

    JC

    Let's say I have 1 table with 2 rows and 2 columns to layout my page. the upper row has a fixed height and i want the bottom row to occupy the remaining height of the window.

    I know how to make a table height have 100% but i want a specific row (td to be more precise) to resize its height.

    <table>
    <tr>
    <td style="height: 100px;">Fixed height</td>
    <td style="height: 100px;">Fixed height</td>
    </tr>
    <td>Variable height</td>
    <td>Variable height</td>
    </tr>
    </table>

    TIA
