    Is this a MySql Problem?

    Hi

    Hows it going?

I am having some problems with an xcart - I have posted in their forum, but have had no replies - so I thought I'd briefly describe the problem here to see if its a database problem.

I can modify products in a mysql table using the modify.php file but I cannot add new products which uses the same modify.php file.

    I am not using sessions.

Is this a database problem - or a php?

I'm lost - forgive me if this is a stoopid question

It might be better if we could see the code that goes with it, does the modify.php file contain an Insert as well as an Update?

Yes it does contain an Insert as well as an update...

    Should I post the code??

I must add that the data was exported from a database on one server and imported into this one and this is when the problem started. Before all work fine.

I have replaced the php file in question with the old one which worked. So I'm just wondering if the database is corrupt.

phpMyAdmin finds nothing when I try to repair it.

What happens when you run an INSERT statement in phpMyAdmin?

If you can update the table I can't think of any reason why you shouldn't be able to insert as well.

It might be an idea to post the code as well, there might be something in there.

    Hi folks

I have concluded that it is not the php files as I have had them replaced them with new copies from an x-cart which is working on the same server.

It is not the database - as I can add through phpMyAdmin.

I am thinking its something to do with Plesk... My colleague uploads files as the 'master user' using 'secure ftp'. I cannot overwrite these files using normal ftp (I do not have permissions) - so I am thinking that this is also somehow causing the problem!!!

    Could this be correct??

It could be, I know that on one of my database servers I have 2 users, one just has select rights, the other has select, modify, insert and delete. So if the same thing exists within Plesk then that might account for your problems.
