wouldn't have a clue. Do you mean as opposed to programming your own shopping cart yourself, a question I've often wondered - off the shelf or from my own hand .. hmm

the be-all and end-all?

How about http://www.x-cart.com/ ? It's a PHP and MySQL powered shopping cart program. It's either good for building an "out of the box" store or heavily customized online shop.
e-commerce covers everything that you exchange money on the web.Originally Posted by feac
Try the following places for PHP scripts
http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/index.html (9000+ scripts)
http://freshmeat.net/browse/183/ (2480+ scripts)
Then there is several commercial applications etc., visit php.net and mysql.com for more applications

And best of all OSCommerce is FREE.
But it's always nice to give a little back, even if it be a simple set of buttons or a stylesheet in a particluar colour scheme.

that's a good idea, you mean create a little 'donor' magic.
They (oscommerce) seem to have copped some rap for being less than easy to modify the template/appearance from other posts I've read. How hard can css be really though, to interpret and alter to one's needs, unless it looks like a dog's breakfast, like some of my (much) earlier attempts at css.

It's not so much the CSS, even though it does seem a bit OTT, but more the actual design of the site and the way boxes are created, etc.
I don't tend to modify the page layout itself - unless it was for a client paying decent money!

yea.. i'm all about OScommerce. i'm about to design a cosmetics ecomm site with it.

what's the earl, I also am involved with cosmetics

earl?

URL, web address. Then again you said your'e about to design it, so there'll be nothing to look at yet anyway I presume.![]()
