How do you make popup page "windowettes"?

I don't have a clue what they're called, and I'm only guessing that it's a JavaScript function. But I've seen webpages where you can put your cursor on a word or sentence, and a block of explanatory text pops up.

I think it's frequently used on navigation menus. For example, imagine the following menu:

    Home
    About
    Issues
    Directions
    Contact

If you place your cursor on the Issues link, a block of text might pop up that says, "From the economy to the environment, learn what the candidates are talking about." If you then click the link, you'll be taken to the Issues page.

Anyway, how can I do this?

    Thanks.

If you want to use it on a hyperlink, that's simple enough. Use the 'title' attribute, like so:

    <a href="somepage.html" title="This link leads to somepage">Link</a>

You'll see the popup text when you hover the link.

Hmmmm... I tried that, but I didn't get any popup text. It led me to a non-existent page at http://localhost/mysite/somepage.html

    Lightbulb Try - overLIB

    Hi,

I came across this JS library a while back and from your description it looks like it may be usefull to you. There are two sizes of the library as well.

    http://www.bosrup.com/web/overlib/

If you go to the site above you'll see a good few examples on the homepage as well.

    Hope this helps.

    Regards

    Victor.

Then you're doing something very wrong, because it works for everyone else...

It led you to a page? It was an example you know...
