making rounded tables

This is a problem that has haunted me for as long as I can remember. How do you round edges on tables. Now I know its a graphic and not the actual table, but is there a simple way of making them through photoshop? Thank you

What version of Photoshop do you have?

Yes there is

Open photoshop then file > new. Choose a size of twice the size of the rounded corner you want. I.E. if you want a 25 by 25 pixel corner then choose 50 by 50.

Pick the forground and background colors of your site

Then as my previous example 50 by 50 choose the elliptical marquee tool, then set the tool preferences in the marquee options to fixed size. Set the size to 50 by 50.

It helps if you zoom in on it here but click on your new image and center the marquee.

Then using paint bucket fill the circle with your desired color. Then choose select > invert selection. Fill the outside edges with the "other" desired color.

Next Pick your rectangular marquee and again choose fixed size but this time make the size half of the full size. I.E. for above I would use 25 by 25 pixels

Then click on your graphic with the new marquee and move it to one of the four corners (again zoom helps) Then hit edit > copy.

Click file > new then edit > paste

Repeate for all four corners

If you have ver 5.5 save for web to save.

P.S. you can experment with other setting as far as making some different corners one would be say 20 by 50 and changing marquee settings etc...

photoshop 5.5 cool then just choose file save for web and that will save it how you want it...

Most of the time you want to choose websafe colors for your site and use a gif setting... you can break this for more entertainment and personal sites

really the credit goes to someone else here I don't remember who but he/she pointed out that doing the whole circle then cutting it up was alot easier!!!

I just put it together to make it easer for people...

I draw a circle, resize the work area to 50% 50% and keep the upper left corner.
I merge layers and stuff.
I save my first gif.
I rotate it by 90°, then save the second.
Then the third and fourth.

Create a new
Make a box
then go to channel
Create a new channel
Fill that selection with white.
Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur (I use 3 for small images)
Image>Adjust>Levels
Pull the left black and right white faders towards the middle until your blurred body is nice and smooth.

Come back to the layer with the channel images selected
Fill that selection with the color that you want
and Voila

This may sound simple, but how do you curve a line in either ps or psp?

The way I create a curved line in Photoshop:

1) Create a circular selection

2) Choose the color you want for the line and make sure it's the foreground color.

3) Choose Edit > Stroke and select the width of the stroke and whether you want it inside, centered or outside the selection.

4) Press Ok and voila.

Hm... I just use Microsoft Paint which comes with Windows. Not really as complicated.

I used to do this also but with this method you can hardly control the rounded edge. The 'ellipse marquee tool' works much easier.

Correct JMulder...

I always get annoyed at people that suggest that method. It does not give you anywhere NEAR the amount of control over the results.

I did use this method to smoothen a wavy looking border up. Till creole suggested the 'Paths Tool' and I took the time to look into it =)

The only thing I use channels for are custom patterns and custom bevels when using it in combination with Lightning Effects. That's all =\
