    Using IM??

I am starting to work with international subcontractors, and a couple of them prefer IM for quick day-to-day discussions.

Is there an IM client that is universal, so I'm not stuck with only the Yaho "family of users" or MS's, or whatever? What do you use for IM? What has been your expereicne with it? Can you save discussions so they become part of your project records?

Thanks, any IM-er out there for your input!

Thank you. Trilian looks like it's certainly worth a free download to evaluate.

The Trillian you download is free for you to use as much as you want. There is a "Trillian Pro" that has additional features, but they really aren't necessary -- plus you have to pay yearly to use it. I've been using Trillian myself for a long time now, works great.

I've used trillian for a few years too. Works great, although there used to be a problem with AOL instant messenger on it which just required a patch every now and then when it stopped working.

Also check out the Open Source Miranda IM client. www.miranda-im.org The nice thing about Miranda is there is an active base of OS developers who have written many useful plug-ins.

If you're not keen on Trilliant, like myself, you can try using Miranda IM. It lets you connect to AIM, MSN, ICQ, Yahoo, Jabber, ICQ etc
    hmm...

I've been a sucker for Trillian for many years but recently moved to Miranda. The number of plugins and all the things you can do with it is great.
