Css dropdown menu over float in IE prob.

What I have is a Javascript dropdown menu that changes the background of my button by changing it's class.

My problem occurs when my menu is over a floated item in my dynamically displayed content.

The floated image shows through into the menu. This only happens in IE. I am using a mac and am working on this locally,(on my machine.) So I have not confirmed this problem on a PC yet.

Is this a normal bug?, And can anyone point me to a work-around?

Found the problem, but still can't believe what it was.

Turns out to be a relative position in one of my nested div's.

found it by /* */ out the entire guts of the css file and adding back classes one at a time.
