    Hi
I really want to start learning MY SQL and PHP so that I can database my site early on. Can you advise where I can find a tutorial that caters for a complete beginner who only really has experience with HTML. I glanced at the Sitepoint tutorial, but it seemed a bit advanced.

    please help

    Nick

Well I too found the sitepoint tutorial kind of intimidating unitil I relised I could skip the hole first section on instalation and configuration.

Unless you do have to install it you can start here.

Other then that you could try the one spotster.net has.

My main problem is configuring the server side stuff. I don't have a host who has My SQL installed, is it possible to use a home computer as the server and the browser, if so how. Just until I get the hang on it all.

    Cheers

Yup, you can easly set up apache(web server software), php, and mysql easly with PHPTriad on Windows 95/98 and it automaticly configures it for you. I wouldn't try serving pages to the public with it though but it's great for testing and everything.
