    Oracle sql*plus musing!

I have installed Oracle's instantclient (sql*plus). I don't have Oracle database installed. I am connecting to a remote database.

How do I get complete "create" and "insert" statements for all the tables structures and data in that database?

I want to do that to be able to save a copy of it, and also send these statements to my peer so they can create an image of the database.

    Thank you
I appreciate the help of everyone at SitePoint.com

Ideally you would use the export/import utilities that Oracle provides. If however, you really want to rebuild the tables based on the information stored in the data dictionary of the database, here is a link to a very good primer on how to reverse-engineer objects from Oracle's data dictionary:

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers,
    Keith.
