    Hello folks,

What other options are there to Password Protect a directory and/or a page (pages) if there is no Telnet access available to the site.

I finally got to a site which clearly explained why my attempts at ".htaccess" was not working. I DO NOT HAVE TELNET access to the sites and pages I was interested in password protecting. Apparently you cannot do ".htaccess" without having Telnet access.

The remote services do not seem to cut it.

    Any and all info helpful.

My obvious suggestion since you don't have telnet access would be to contact your host and they could do it. Did you try that?

As far as I'm aware, about the only way to do it if you don't have Telnet is to generate the .htaccess and .htpasswd files on another Linux box and then FTP them on to your server. If you don't have access to another Linux box however, then you should ask your host.
My 2 Cents (or is that 2.2 Cents including GST?)
