I currently need to optimize a circular "icon" which is used on a companies brochure for use on their site. The only source I have is a scanned image, which obviously looks a bit pants. I have done some work and cleaned up the icon so it looks reasonable - but for the edges. Just can't seem to get it right. What is the best programme/tool for cutting out a circular selection of an image (don't currently have PS6 (or any other) - can I do this in Fireworks? If I can cut a clean circle then I can happily mess the edges up and rectify the mistakes later.

    Cheers all,

    H

    Hi,

If I am understanding you correctly, Fireworks can defanently do it. All you need to do is just use the selection tool, highlight whatever, and cut it out.

    This help?

    Thanks,

paint shop pro and photoshop will both do this, i know that in jasc paint shop pro you can cut an image out and automatically "feather" it which is a little like anti-aliasing the image which will give you the edges you are looking for.
