    Height for TD in Netscape 6 not working

    This is a simplified version of what I'm trying to do. I have a table that has two rows in it. I would like to set the height if the first row explicitly. For various reasons (like I said, this is really simplified) I don't want to set the height of the second row, I want it to automatically fill out to the height of the rest of the table. This works OK in IE6. Netscape 6 seems to just ignore the height attribute in the TD and works like the height it set to auto, making the row too big.

    (The same thing happens if you use CSS instead of the HTML attributes. I shows the attributes here for simplicity.)

    <TABLE width=206 height=126 border=1 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0>
    <TR>
    <TD height=40>XYZ</TD>
    </TR>
    <TR>
    <TD>ABC</TD>
    </TR>
    </TABLE>

    Any ideas on what I can do? Thanks!

    Height is not a valid element for the TD tag as such Netscape does not obey it. Use CSS instead to define height (e.g. style="height:40px")

    It does the same thing when I use CSS, at least with the style attribute on the TD tag, just like you suggessted. CSS does not work.

    If things are working in the other major browsers, don't worry about NN6. It is an outdated browser with a very small market share that is declining.
