Ordered list

I putting a page together with an ordered list which has legislation with numbered paragraphs. Everything was fine until I realised the numbering goes 1,2,3,3a,4,5

What would be the easiest way to get "3a" to display at the appropriate para using a list?

There is no way to show "3a" with pure CSS, but you can add a child-list that will show just "a". So you'd get item 3, section a.

Actually, CSS 2 revision 1 does offer those possibilities with generated content and counters; support among browsers unfortunately is schetchy, if existent at all. You'll have to be patient for a while...
