Okay, this will get an argument started pretty quickly. I personally use FP 2k and have used it since 97 and seen it gradually improve in all aspects. It doesn't produce as much bulky code as it used to (which may still be too much for you big nerds).
I'm still waiting to buy DW but the cash flow is currently pretty low. Heard good things about it, but everyone has thei opinion.

Even though I voted DreamWeaver, all of them have their place.
I tried GoLive out at a product demo at an expo and I was extremely impressed with the integration between GoLive and PhotoShop. It's also quite easy to use and is a worthy competitor.
Visual Interdev is my tool of choice for developing ASP applications and its power is unparalleled for ASP stuff.
I use HomeSite more for pure HTML coding (and fixing DreamWeaver's bloated JScript codes and cleaning up my own coding) and is an excellent complement to DreamWeaver (which is why it was previously bundled with DW).
DreamWeaver is what I use for 95% of my web work though, and it's perfect for all my needs.

you didn't include NetObjects Fusion on the list which is a true wysiwyg editor![]()

I voted DreamWeaver.
IMO DreamWeaver 3 is too limited compared to DreamWeaver 4 (which I'm using now). Together with Edit+ 2, DreamWeaver 4 is unbeatable![]()

I realize I didn't include every WYSIWYG editor and not everyone uses them, however, these are the four that are always being compared.
This was just for fun.

Yep..i guess so.
FrontPage's my option for beginners. Dreamweaver would be for experienced designers.
Then again, text editors rule.

FrontPage 2000, without a doubt...

Just a thought that's somewhat unrelated to the topic of this thread:
How does a thread with 122 page views as of 4:45PM EST (02-12-01) have a poll with only 20 votes? What's going on?

I just voted
DREAMWEAVER OF COURSE!!!!!!
seriously, i think that frontpage is GREAT for beginners, and experianced users, but someone got me hooked on DW before i had time to become an expericanced user

Probably because half of the page views are 'repeat' page views (that is, they've already viewed and possibly voted); the other half's probably just too lazy or like to sit on the fenceOriginally posted by dominique

Microsoft aren't big fans of FP, if you check out the "help" file in ie5 and view source, it's full of dw javascript.
Know where the ms dev teams vote is then.....

Dreamweaver is defanently the best one out there in my opinion. I have tried a lot of them, and now have been using Dreamweaver for the past 1 1/2. I love the thing.
GoLive is very tightly integrated with Photoshop, but have you tried Dreamweaver and Fireworks together? (especcially the version 4's)
Nothing can touch them. When I see Dreamweaver leading in a poll like this, it makes me proud. I feel like its a part of me. I feel like its mother.
Haha,
Eric
I voted FrontPage. Now, this is totaly not because I am a Microsoft Fan or anything (believe me, I am NOT). I usualy work in dreamweaver since I like the look and feel of the Program. I voted for FP because of its ease of use in creating froms and the control over an entire site. But the onl thing that bothers me about FP is that it does edit you alot into your HTML, which is something I despise since I am a hardcore HTML programmer and I like having complete control over my Site.
Sorry to all the anti-microsoft buddys, I am with you, its just that I can work faster with it. And anyway, I dont use those editors too much since I like to write the site myself.

The Dreamweaver 4 / Fireworks 4 combo can't be beat!

I guess DW 4 is the winner..hahaz

eesh, here we go again..
The only reason Visual InterDev is losing is no one has that kind of cash to pay for a great product. It gets my vote. The price is high, but you'll never meet anything better. I can almost guaruntee it.
Nah, Nah-nah nah-nah.
I feel argumentative today. Anyone care to throw down the gauntlet?![]()
Hi goober
Want to drive the best? Recommend you try Hot Dog, any version. I have Pro 6.5 But all are really solid products.
I do not need any other wysiwyg editor. Try it. Also their product is matched by their support! And today that is saying a lot for any service.

On the 5th of Feb 2001 NetObjects announced it had sold it's 10 millionth copy of NetObjects Fusion and you FORGOT to include it!![]()
It is the only true wysiwyg software of it's kind.
DreamWeaver doesn't even come close in a comparison of ease of use. While daydreamweaver users are still setting up the dir structure of the site a NOF user is just going through the process of submitting his site to the search engines![]()

Web Studio 2 (what ?) - does everything, costs £20

It's fine to discuss what we like and don't like about each one, but it's kind of silly to insist that one or the other is the best/worst, etc. For me, I wouldn't like a "true" WYSIWG, but on the other hand, I don't care for typing in all the code and frankly I need a visual aid to help keep track of tables, although I don't nest them as deep as that sounds. I think a lot has to do with how your mind works. Dreamweaver has been the best fit for me, but other people have other opinions, of course. The fact that Dreamweaver is ahead in this poll shouldn't be a surprise. It's a very popular application, but for those who march to a different drummer, that's fine, too.
