When I save a small banner as an .swf file it's only 5k big which is great but the text style I used has gone and i'm only left with the arial font. If I export it again but this time change the "maintain paths" to "maintain appearance" and the "maintain edability" to "convert to paths" my text style is there but the file is 49k which is bigger than if i save it as a animated gif.
The optimize settings are colors 32, dither 100% and no transparency.
    Any ideas gratefully recieved.

Why not just save it as an animated GIF? Or why not just keep it at 49kb? Maybe the image is so big that's the size it has to be.

As a gif it is 26k which has the text style I made it with.
In .swf it is 49k with the text effects. Flash files are much smaller than gif files so it stands to reason i am doing something wrong when exporting.
49k is way to big for a 150x38 banner! 26k is to big for 150x38 banner

I don't know if this will help, but why not try saving it as a .JPG file then using a different program to compress it. There might be a problem with the compression program within Fireworks. Either that or the banner really is pretty complex which is making it that big.

Why not post the URL to it?
