I thought "Loser Goes First: My Thirty-Something Years of Dumb Luck and Minor Humilition" by Dan Kennedy was pretty good. Short, funny and thoroughly entertaining. It was fun reading about his many screwups.

    Fundamentals of Learning and Motivation

Hopefully the learning theory will help me learn better. I'm about 1/3 through, and so far it makes psychologists out to be obsessed with rats and sex. Other than that the theory and presentation is great.

    Baudolino - by Umberto Eco

At the sack of Constantinople, Baudolino recalls his life spent in search of the Kingdom of Prester John, as part of the dying wish of his father-figure/mentor, Barbarossa. His tall tales bear the stamp of truth but he is a self-confessed liar and an adept at Simony. How much of his story (if any) can be believed?

This is a delightful book - Eco's skills as a master researcher of the mediaeval and fantasist are beyond compare, and we are given a whirlwind tour of the myths and metaphysicks of the early years of the last millenium.

Da Vince Code, followed extremely closely by Angels and Demons (both by Dan Brown. Reading another one right now.) They're rather amazing books, read them both in about 3 days.

Da Vince Code! A real page turner. Angels and Demons - great too! Digital Fortress is Dan Brown's latest. On page 115. Takes place in Spain. Not part of the "Robert Langdon" series, but same kind of book - another page turner

That's on my nightstand for my next book. On page 264 of Deception Point right now. I personally find the Langdon series better than Deception Point right now, but we'll see. Deception Point still is rather good.

I hear he has a new Langdon book coming out in summer 2005 I think it was. Takes place immediately after Da Vince Code.

    A tie between two:

    • Programming ASP.NET by Dino Esposito
    • His Dark Materials (trilogy) by Philip Pullman

In theory, Pullman shouldn't be on there, since I reread the trilogy ever six months or so. I'm completely obsessed.
