It's amazing that DMOZ is PR10 and Yahoo is still only a 9.

I have noticed PR update for 1 of my sites from 5 to 6. However, I recently started building a few new sites, they all gained some backlinks but are still showing PR 0, what gives? The links come from PR 4 - 5 pages. Google hadn't spidered my site besides the index page yet though.

That could very well be it. I'm not listed in DMOZ yet (waiting until the next upgrade on my site) while everyone else here is. That could explain why I'm the only one getting PR decrease while everyone else is going up. I think I need to work a little harder on the next update for my site and get this party startedOriginally Posted by 2010

About 3 hours ago I saw the same results as everyone else then I looked up while on one of my sites and noticed that the PR dropped back to what it was, and sure enough, all my other sites had to...
This the case for anyone else?

Sites of mine that did have a PR increase stay the same, however looking at these last few posts I think it's clear that the PR/backlink update isn't over yet..

Ok, and now the PR of all my sites have gone back up.
Guess the update isn't over...
Yeah, it's showing back the old PR for my sites as well.

Yep. I just now checked my site and the PR has gone back to what it originally was![]()

I'm thinking that it's more of an ODP effect, among my sites the ones listed in ODP did well, the ones not listed didn't.

I recently went up to a pr7 and i am not listed in dmoz. Although i have many partner links and a lot of them probably are in dmoz.

I am seeing backlinks to pages that are linked only within javascript. I have a client that is backlinked to a page that only shows their link in a javascript scrolling menu.
It looks like the Google is showing additional PR for some javascript links.

Look at Ebay, they're only a PR8. By anyone's measure, Ebay is among the most popular sites on the internet. Things like that just underline the difficulties Google (and any other search engine for that matter) faces when trying to come up with a mathmatical system to rank websites.Originally Posted by jplamb

Perhaps it isnt such a mystery that ebay is only a pr8 . Most of the links in ebay are from affiliates - so probably javascript type links - also... many people will link to a particular page in ebay and not the ebay.com homepage.

You may be right, and that may be one of the reasons Google's trying to make the googlebot read javascript links.Originally Posted by TimNiceButDim

It's normal for you to see differing results after a change has been made--it takes a while for the new rankings to propagate through all of Google's servers/data centers. If you're seeing old results, you're probably getting the result from a data center that hasn't been updated yet.Originally Posted by AndyH

I had two sites at 6, both went to 7. One is in DMOZ, the other is not.

3-6 on one site
6-6 on another
Looks like Google is being nice.

DMOZ is definitely a major factor here. I have an individual page listed in dmoz, no other pages of the site, and that page went from PR5 to 6 and has no other new links (nobody would link to this page except this stupid dmoz editor, I've been trying to fix that for months).

Well dmoz.org just went to PR 10, so the page your site is listed on probably had a PR increase aswell, funneling more PR to your site.
