    hi,
Thanks a lot for the info. about spyware, it just raises concerns about the security and future of the internet on a personal level.

Am wondering how much better alternative browsers are. Having done a bit of personal research on other alternative browsers

afrika: Were you asking for advice? It seems you've read enough to make a good decision.

    http://browsehappy.com/

Firefox is open source, so it won't cost you a dime. It'd be cool if you could donate though.

Muad'Dib: Sysinternals has a plethora of very nice utilities for a wide range of Windows-related stuff. But, not for getting rid of spyware. Do a search on their site - you won't see any mention of spyware on there.

    Smile

Actually, sysinternals has a very cool program called “Process Explorer” that looks for hidden and auto-run processes on your pc. This comes in handy when spybot and adaware do not catch everything.

In that case, that clarification definitely helps.

Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel is recommended from a few people as well (Fred Langa, for one).

    Question i 've a doubt

Actually i've downloaded antispyware in my pc at home frm the net. When i scan my comp it detects the infected protion but it doesn't quarantine those items or clean spyware. When i try to clean spyware frm the infected folder it prompts me to register.

so it means that i don't 've the registered version.
So cn u plz tell me if there is any free antispyware software available on the net for download or do i 've to buy the software.
plz mention the source of the website.

!! I 've uninstalled the previous version which i had !!
    plz help

Lavasoft AdAware SE is very good. So could be a dozen other programmes, but the best way to keep away from spyware and adware is to surf on safer sites and not open all the crap we receive in our mailbox.

Another great anti Malware, Spyware & Trojan program is ASquared. They have a free version and also a subscription version (much like AdAware) but I have found that its database is more comprehensive with updates almost daily. The only drawback is that it takes a long time to scan hence my scheduling it at night.

It can be downloaded here: http://www.emsisoft.com/en/software/free/

I also run SpyBot 1.3 and under the Immunize section, I highly recommend configuring it with all options checked in that area in addition to installing the Java based SpywareBlaster that they link to.

    Just my $0.02.

    Hello!

I'm having a problem with SearchX that keeps on bothering me for quite a while. I'm using CWShreder, but that program only removes the problem temporarily. I'm trying Hijack now and I hope you will be able to help me. Thank you in advance for taking time! Note: right now when I open my Internet browser my default blank page appears because I just used CWShreder. Otherwise I can't open any page because of SearchX.

Here is my log after using Hijack:
