I am striving for a certain effect in my movie. I would like to know if you can make the background of a Flash movieclip transparent. To clarify, I would like to show, let's say a red circle. I want everything OUTSIDE of the circle (but inside the movieclip) to be transparent. If the background is white, then you see a red circle on a field of white. If the background is black, you see a red circle on a field of black. I seem to recall seeing somewhere that it is possible.

I am using Flash 4 and I don't see how I can do it. The movieclip properties don't give me a choice of "no color". An example of what I am talking about can be found at www.gamespy.com. You can see when you "rollover" the menu at the top that part of the menu covers the GameSpy logo. That is the sort of thing I am going for. Please post examples or links to help files.

    cheers
