Just noticed you've upgraded to vBulletin 2.0 (the messy session variables in the URL gave it away) - how are you finding it?

In particular how noticeable are the speed enhancements?

Any information will be gratefully recieved,

    Simon

I haven't noticed the speed increases yet. We aare working to get gZip installed and I have to add indexes to the tables.

A couple of other things we can do for speed is upgrade MySQL and convert all the tables to MyISAM. However I want to test things out as they are for a while.

MyISAM? Do you have a link to a page where I can find out more?

I ask because I help out with the running of http://forums.gameplay.com/ - possibly the largest vBulletin powered forum in the world at 1.6 million posts. We are having serious performance problems at peak access times and any tips on improving performance would be welcome

The best source of information is the Server Configuration forum at vBulletin.com and the MySQL documentation.

With that many posts though you may want to contact Matt Rogish (I think that is correct) at Fanhome.com. He has ported vBulletin to Sybase. Sybase would be better able to handle that kind of load. There is a free older version available for Redhat Linux.

I have noticed a speed increase - probably the GZIP compression mainly as I am on a 56k modem.
It won't be as noticeable to those on faster connections though.
It is much faster than before for me

I've talked to Matt Rogish a bit already - Sybase sounds like it could be a good solution but we're lacking techies with experience in that area at the moment...
