    Question Is MySQL 4.1 Stable?

I am new to MySQL and I am starting a project that requires me to convert an Access database to MySQL. The application is written in ASP.NET(VB).

I noticed in the documentation on MySQL that is says begining with version 4.1, sub-queries are fully supported, although, 4.1 itself is in Alpha release.

I would really like to keep my sub-queries, but this will end up in a production environment.

Alternativly, I was just looking at MaxDB on the MySQL site. This looks a lot closer to what I am used to working with - MS SQL Server. My only concern there, though, is that I am already charting unfamiliar waters and if I use something like MaxDB with a smaller development community, I may not be able to get the help I need if a situatin comes up.

Currently, MySQL 4.0 is still the stable version, MySQL 4.1 is an alpha release and should only be used for new development.

    (That's what on MySQL.com.)
