    Please help with Background-image/IE6 bug

    Hi

    Please take a look at http://www.lifeespana.com/2004/CSS%20index2.htm

    Its the first CSS layout I have done and as far as I can tell it has gone reasonably well (so far!).

    The biggest problem I have is (on IE6) when you scroll down the page so the first tab (Property sales) disappears off screen, and then scroll back up again a duplicate of the tab background image appears beneath it.
    If you mouse over any of the links on the left it disappears. It doesn't do this in Opera of Firefox.

    I would appreciate any ideas as to why its doing this, and any other feedback on the coding of the page.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,

    This is a common problem with ie and can be fixed by using position:relative on the relative element.

    Code:
    .tabtop {
     background: url(http://www.lifeespana.com/2004/images/tabtop.gif);
     background-repeat: no-repeat;
     padding-right: 0px;
     position:relative;
     }
    You may want to check your page in mozilla as your top navigation goes off the side a bit.

    Otherwise it looks ok

    Thanks Paul

    I noticed the nav bleeding of to the right. What is Mozilla doing differently than IE to cause this?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi,

    I'll have a look later this afternoon if you want (as I'm just out) but a quick fix would be to give them both a different value for now.
    Code:
    #navigation {
     position: absolute;
      top: 78px;
     left: 390px;
     font-size: 11px;
     }
    * html #navigation {left:430px}
    I'll try and see what's causing it later
