how can I create a navigation bar similar to the one on this site?http://www.vans.com

Are you talking about the bar at the top which says "Home. Shopping. Girls. etc"?
If you are... then it's pretty easy to get that done. Each button is a symbol which changes when mouse is over the button.
I can attach examples if that's what you want.

That menubar is made of 2-state animation buttons. They are regular buttons with actions on rollover & rollout events.

On rollover, the first slidein animation is played in an mc & on rollout, the slideout animation is played in the mc.

I wrote a little tut on it sometime back. I you want it, I'll attach it.

Are you crazy? Look at the date again. This wasn't started in 2003 but in March 2004.

Yeah, since flash mx can assign button event handlers to movie clips, I would highly suggest using movie clips with a motion tween and some key frames. Then you can assign the rollovers and rollout handlers to move to certian keyframes
