    403 access denied /< server error.

    I've found this error in numerous places and haven't found a remedy.

    Basically, I'm sending a form's data to a mySQL database and once I submit the form the browser goes to :
    http://localhost/<?php%20$PHP_SELF?> where I subsequently get the error.

    "Forbidden
    You don't have permission to access /< on this server.

    Apache/2.0.48 (Win32) PHP/4.3.4 Server at localhost Port 80"

    I'm running the Apache 2.0.48 / php 4.3.4 /mysql 4.0.18/Windows XP. This is just a testing platform on my laptop.

    I've changed httpd.conf at least three times to make the following adjustments to no avail <directory /> to allow all; allow localhost; removed that allow. i've double and triple checked about the presence of the index.html file and I've basically testing this form as the index.html file.. ? So, I'm at a loss for something to try. Any ideas?

    Should I try some other setup since I'm just a newbie at this..?

    Could you attach here the copy of your httpd.conf ?

    Also, are you sure that <?php%20$PHP_SELF?> is correct ?
    Shouldn't it be
    <?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>

    - $PHP_SELF should return "/filename.php" in most servers.
    - but it is better to use $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] , it will works on all servers.
    - this syntax is not right -> <?php%20$PHP_SELF?>, u must use something like that pippo said or something like this -> <?=$PHP_SELF?>

    Can you show the code which is executed after submitting the form?
