    cursor: hand; doesn't work in FireFox?

    I have a <li> and a class change on mouse over. In the CSS of the class when the mouse is over the <li>, I have cursor: hand; defined, however it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas why? (Works in IE - quite odd, something working in IE and Not FF )

    I just did a quick Google and it looks like IE supports hand, which supposedly isn't in the CSS specs, and FireFox supports cursor: pointer.

    Hi,

    I can't remember where I copied this tip from so I hope they don't mind me posting it:
    Cursor hand:
    a {cursor: pointer; cursor: hand;}
    Do not reverse those two values! If you write your styles as shown above, then NS6+ will see the first value and ignore the second, so you get pointer. In IE5.x/Win, it sees both and uses the second, so you get hand. If you reverse the values, then Netscape 6+ will be okay, but IE5.x/Win will see both and try to use the second. That won't get you the little hand-pointer icon in IE5.x/Win.
    With this simple approach, you can make sure your designs get a hand every time.

    That is a pretty rocking piece of simple code. I should figure out a reason for me to use it.

    Thanks for posting!

    cursor: pointer;
    cursor: hand;

    seems to be working just fine for IE and FireFox.

    Now another problem: doesn't work in Opera...

    Edit: Just googled about opera. Seems opera doesn't support cursor: xxx; at all... Oh well should be using FireFox shouldn't they .

    Hmmm, Works in my Opera 6, 7.03 and 7.22.

    Just tested my ie5 and 6 and they seem to work with just cursorointer on a standard link.

    Here's where I got the link from: It's Eric Meyers site so you may find some more info there:
