Not sure where to put this one so here goes

I am new at this, I am looking to learn how to write code or script that as an example go to espn.com or nascar.com and take scores or results and put them inside of my own page. I guess liek moreover used to do. I want to be able to do it to a specific site and don't know where to start.

    Thanks very much in advance.

I've done this in Perl, using the LWP library (I'm sure most other scripting languages have similar functionality). The script would download the html page from a remote site, then use regular expressions to extract and display the data I needed.

One problem I had was when the other site was redesigned, my script would break. The regular expressions would need to be fixed to find the data again. Someday when RSS feeds become more prevalent this will be much easier
