    Freddy,
The ISAPI version of PHP has been running great! But I tried to connect to MySQL and keep getting an error... I reinstalled MySQL and changed the hostname to "localhost" and ran Apache and then tried the mysql command.... but no luck, it tells me that "MySQL cannot connect to host, localhost".

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,

I am running Win98 with Apache installed and PHP running as a PHP Module.... Apache and PHP run fine, but when I try the mysql command it says that host cannot be found. I was wondering how you set yours up since you also installed PHP as an Apache Module.

Sounds like you may be missing an entry in the host table of your windows system. There is a file in the C:\Windows folder called hosts.sam

Make sure there is an entry in there like

    127.0.0.1 localhost

Also what error are you getting exactly? Is it an unable to connect to mysql as someone@localhost? Or a cannot find hostname

I have the hosts.sam file right...

The error I am getting is
"ERROR 2003: Can't Connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)"

But I just started messing around with some of the .exe files in the bin folder (this always seems to work with Windows ) and I ran the mysql-shareware.exe file and then the mysql.exe file and it ran fine!! sheesh....

    Thanks,

That just means the daemon didn't get started. You have to start the daemon before you an actually run the program. Glad to see you got it going!
