    Ken,

    Okay. Firstly, this probably should have been posted under the 'beginner' HTML forum, where it would've gotten a quicker, more concise response. Try there next time.

    But, say you have a file named 1234.html. You have a link up top to a place down at the middle or bottom. So, here's the code:
    Code:
    <HTML>
    <HEAD>
    <TITLE>1234.html</TITLE></HEAD>
    <BODY>
    Welcome to the page!
    <a href="#down">Further Down</a>
    Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text

    <a name="down"><h1>The further down section</H1></a>
    Text Text Text Text.
    </BODY>
    </HTML>
    Also, if you're on another page this is possible, too. just change the <a href="#down"> to <a href="1234.html#down">.

    NOTE:. You really won't be able to see the effect of this if you copy and paste the code, because the information fits onto one page and therefore no scrolling would occur.

    If you have problems, post back. I'll be glad to help.

    Hi ChevyKen
    You have a very nice site design. You are indeed good at photoshop..
    However, As I'm currently using my 56 k connection, it loads terribly slow.

    All the best for your site.

    Ye gawds! That made a lump in my cable. Offer a low bandwidth version. But this isn't the review forum so I'll hush now.

    Thanks for the kind words,
    I run a 56K modem myself too - no problem. I get feed back from my user also that the server is unusually fast

    Anyways, thanks for the input, I will try to see what I can do to fix it, and hopefully get it reviewed. Only problem is that Im not a very good reviewer yet myself, so it will take a while before I "qualify" for a review..LOL

    Again, thanks - I really appreciate both the help and the inputs!!

    Yes
    Certain people at certain locations in the world get different speeds.
    So you cna't make an assumption that just becoz the server's fast that others will load it fast too.

    Ken,

    I have some bad news for you.

    On my cable modem the page took 35 seconds to load - that's far too long and you'll need to optimise those images to cut the load time.

    It may appear quicker to you because your browser has (quite possibly) cached all the images so it flies for you.

    For example, the header title 'ChevyWorld.net' is 30K. That's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too big! And the mouseovers can probably be cut down a bit further too.

    Anyway, the very best of luck

    I run a 56k on a Pentium 133 and I didn't see a problem with the loading speed for me. I live in Australia. The page loaded pretty quickly , very nice design!

    Everyone,

    I run DSL, and, like busta (who has 56k), everything ran smoothly for me. Maybe..3 seconds of load time? It wasn't that bad for me. Maybe everyone else's cable is just slow.

    I have a 56k and it was slow for me too! I think that the major factor in this is the ISP and not the server where the site is hosted.

    Bit of a moot point but you black background on the image is, well, very dark grey or R:5 G:5 B:5 (hex: 050505) top be more precise (I have keen eyesight :-) and a good monitor). If you up the contrast by +9 (in photoshop, don't know the setting for other packages) it will sort it out.

    Also I would suggest centering the whole thing in the browser window (in the X and Y), my screen res is 1280x1024x32, and your website is lost in the top left corner of it :-)

    Hate to repeat something everyone else is saying, but I have a 56k, and its loadin pretty slow for me. I don't know if a preloader script would work, but you might give it a try.

    It's kinda funny how this thread turned into a review. Sorry bout that. Other than that...looks real nice!!

    Wow! Did I get surprised or what LOL. I was just passing by and had expected this thread to be dead
    Anyways, I appreciate all the great inputs and suggestions - I will definitely take them into consideration and see what I can figure out to make it all work and look smoother. Im also pleased to see that some of you (even on the other side of the world) were able to load it pretty fast.
    When I mentioned above that it loads fast for me, I did not mean from cache (every site loads fast then ) - but when loading it all over. As a side note to BC, if it takes your cable modem 35 seconds to load, I believe we both have a problem..
    As for the optimizing, I honestly thought that was done already as it was built in ImageReady3 and then Optimized for the web??? But then again, as I mentioned in my initial post - this is my very first Photoshop creation, so I have a LOT to learn and a long way ahead.....

    Again, thanks to EVERYONE for their inputs. If anyone has other tips they would like to share, feel free to email me at chevyken@chevyworld.net as I understand that this forum is not the right one.

    Best Regards,

    Ken

    I think so!

    Seriously I tried again and the load time was more than halved to 15 seconds. So there must have been a glitch on my side when I checked it out
