    Question Strange link - can anyone help identify if this is valid?

    Hi-
    I have a question on a site I have been asked to update. I was looking at the code and noticed the link paths. I have never seen a link like this before & I would like more info before I give them an estimate for updating the site.

    The linking structure looks like this:
    <A class=home-nav
    href="http://www.domainame.com/cgi-bin/main.cgi?zone=products&amp;side=main">Products</A>

    Has anyone ever seen anything like this for a link? They are including the cgi-bin in the path.

    The links on the site work.
    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thank you!

    Hi,

    The link is valid and is accessing a file called main.cgi and passing values to the program main.cgi where zone=products and side=main.

    You can append values to the url so that another program can take those values and do whatever is necessary.

    If you want to learn more just google it with something like "passing values via url"

    why wouldn't it be valid? it is the same as when you do this

    page.php?some=thing

    but what you have there is perl and most perl script run in the cgi-bin so it is just another folder to go to.

    it works the same as anyother site does.
