The best way to do this?

Ok, I'm new to the whole accepting payment process and I need your help.

I'm looking to setup my Members Area something like this.

When a visitor to my site wants to register they are required to fill out a form which asks them for a username, password, etc and also payment details. I would like the payment section to offer either Paypal or CC. Once the payment has been verified the new membership is activated and they can then log into the Members Area. I would also very much like to have a recurring billing feature.

How easy would this be to setup? Are there any PHP (or less preferable, CGI) scripts out there that can do something very close? I came across one called DreamCost but the reviews I read about it were pretty bad.

Check out Paypal - they offer the IPN & it might be exactly what you need.

Ah Ok. You did not say that in the beginning, I take it you might be looking for a script then? If so, just by doing a search on www.scriptsearch.com - I found: http://www.russianlondon.com/scripts/freepaypal - hopefully that helps some. It will allow access to closed pages & forums.

have a look at Amember, especially the pro version. I have this running on one of my sites and it is the best $99 I have ever spent. It will do exactly what you want and offer you as many payment systems as you need.

aMember must have gone up in price. It's now $139.95. Think I'll look for a cheaper alternative and if I can't find one I might purchase it. Thanks for the link Backlinker1.

I looked on hotscripts already beley, but think i'll go browse more thoroughly this time.

Can anyone provide details on a project plan for something like this? I've been coding it myself so far (helps me learn php as I go along too )
