    Chained SSL

I am in need of a new SSL certificate for a new web project. While shopping around I noticed a 'chained' SSL. What the heck is it? Can I use for my website? Any caveats?

    http://www.ev1servers.net/english/chainedssldetails.asp

    Anyone?

    Thanks.

Instead of getting a chained SSL certificate, check out www.ev1servers.net - they have a GeoTrust SSL for only $50 and it's much better than a chained cert.

I am very satisfied with the certificate. No problems installing and no complaints about compability.

I disagree with this statement. I use Comodo InstantSSL certificates which are chained certificates and for all practical purposes there is absolutely no difference than with using an issuer who has their own root certificate. I just don't think it is an issue although some parties (mainly the competition) try to beat it up into one. In fact I chose to use Comodo InstantSSL over GeoTrust because the comodo cert was more browser compatible. I made this decision quite some time ago. It is probably not such a big issue now (eg, Netscape 4.7, etc, compatability is no longer as big an issue).
