    Question Recommendation wanted: Login System?

    Hi folks,

I'm sure that this question has been asked many times here, but instead of doing a search and finding possibly dated material, I wanted to just ask it again to be sure.

The login system that I need only needs to support up to 20 users, but each one needs a different login and password. Cookies.. sessions?

I'm still learning the PHP/mysql basics so if you could point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it. I don't have time to order books or anything because it's due by Friday Feb 20th!

I have php and mysql capabilities on my server.

    Thank you,
    Ron

Do you already have your user management system in place?

hmm. I'm not sure how to answer that question.

I have a site that is database driven.. basically, it shows all of the classes that have been canceled on a given day.

The student doesn't have to login of course.. what they see is a 'results' page.

Then I have a form that the registrars office uses to fill out and it populates the database and that is my admin area.

I had just a simple password protection for the admin area, but now they are saying that they need for up to 20 people to have access to it and that they want multiple username and pws.

    Thanks,
    Ron

Well, this tutorial would be where I would start if I were you. It's the core of how I built my own user management system... maybe it will work for you.

    http://www.phpfreaks.com/tutorials/40/0.php

There's also somethign out there that I have seen called UMA which is more of a standardized user management system, but I don't know if you'll really need all teh functionality or not. I haven't interfaced that, but lots of other people have.... all food for thought....
