    Where do I begin.

I have recently started an new website amd-forums.com and I wanted to know which websites should I look into or any marketing techniques that I should look into so that my forum will gain more publicity. Any reccomendations will be gladly appreciated.

I don't think creating a good community/forum is about getting publicity. That's the first thing. Furthermore, even if you manage to get substantial amount of traffic, it will still not create a good community/forum automatically. Additionally, even if you provide great content(articles and such), it will probably not guarantee to create a good community/forum though it's a start.

I would look into methodology to create a good community/forum at first rather than to get publicity.

Set up a website/forum. Have your friends and family sign up. Then start an ad campaign. Seems easy but trust me its hard work.

I just setup a forum as well ...

We recently setup a forum on our newly revamped Corporate site. It is part of our membership area and not available to the general public. Our forum is not the main focus of our site but in addition to ... an added feature or benefit. Tell people what benefits you have, if it's just a forum site look at other sites and make yours different in some way add a contest or incentive of some sort. If your site (and I'm sorry I didn't look at your site before I posted) is in combination with other services ... use the forum as an addition to the other great services you have ... "In addition to our "services" we also feature an online forum area where you can meet and discuss" ....blah blah blah

    Anyway, hope that helps!

What's your site all about then

My findings are, skin the bugger, add in some super duper hacks that get your members interactive, and away you go.

First question you should ask yourself is "why would some one join my site rather than the twenty or so others that cover the same ground".

Just started my very own site with a friend (l admin at three other sites which are growing rapidly), and this is where we are at. Not yet live, but nice custom skin in place. Currently working on three modules to totally distance ourselfs from our opposition.

Also look for alliances with sites that cover the same ground but do not have forums.

Don't know if you were asking me ...

the question "what is my site all about then" but if you're interested take a look. We do everything to support the efforts of those interested in pursuing an online venture. I'm not the programmer for our company ... my husband does that, I am the talker and love to interact with people and we are currently aligning ourselves with strategic partners so what we can't handle we can outsource

I joined this forum because of the huge knowledge base here. I don't post a lot but I'm in here a lot looking at different topics that interest me and if I feel I can contribute I do that is what it's all about isn't it?

Just figured you may want to know... Your site seems to have gone suicidal, a few mysql failures and what not popped up when i tried to look at it.

Just giving you a heads up.
