The Color Wheel, the best way to select schemes

    Hi:

When we are designing the scheme of a website is very important to know what colors we are going to use. Looking at the Color Wheel we can easily choose what color we can use depending of the content and the target of our site.

    So what is your point?

Whilst appreciating the use of the colour wheel and its use in determining suitable colours that 'work' together, the use of colour is also cultural. For instance in Western civilisations the use of blue/purple for business success and authority is qute well known, but in, for instance, China red is used as a symbol of success. In the Indian sub-continent more spiriuality is applied in determining the 'correct' colour for a particular purpose.

The case is not as cut and died as many marketeers steeped in the Western tradition seem to imply.

There's my Opera Journal. My first entry was about Color Theory, Color Harmony, Color Context, and how the human brain reacts to colors. I didn't get into the cultural meanings of colors, but everything else is covered pretty well. I provide a link to a site which contains a better color chart for human psychology in one of the replies. Hopefully, some of you may find it helpful. Feel free to reply to the entry
