I pondered which forum to post this in but decided this was the right place.
I am interested in learning a little flash, well actually im more interested in actionscript than flash itself. Does anyone know any sites that are useful (i know of little apart from flashkit), or books that they would recommend.
I know so very little about flash or actionscript but would like to start using it on a few upcoming projects.

    Cheers

I recommend the Flash Visual Quickstart Guide by Katherine Ulrich. It's a great book if you're just starting out with Flash animation.

As far as website go, I'd recommend http://www.were-here and http://www.flashplanet.com. Hope that helps!

I agree, I have the Flash 5 visual startuo guide and it is great! The best thing about it is that I find it very quickly to work through!

Are you using Flash 3? If I was you I will be upgrading to ATLEAST Flash 4, I have Flash 5 and you can tell the difference by a long way, even if you download the trial from macromedia.com

I looked in both the table of contents and index in the back of the one for Flash 4, and couldn't find anywhere that they talk about ActionScript.

Macromedia has a 453 pg PDF which covers actionscripting. It's probably more than you need but at least you know it's complete. It's listed under Actionscript reference guide @ http://www.macromedia.com/support/flash
Try the Downloads / Flash Documentation. It took me a few minutes to find it, but it's there.
