Help With Illustrator

Hello, I need some help with something that i cannot figure out how to do... the thing is I have this image (grouped objects) that I want to modify... I will attach an example of the problem.. Now, I want the object to follow a path, similar to the Text Path effect... Only that instead of text, i'd like to use an object and for that object to follow a certain path, thus obtaining the desired shape...

Well...if that's the exact shape you're after, you should be able to do with with the warp options (talking illustrator CS here..), its under effect > warp > arc.

I'm sure there's similiar (if not the same) options in earlier versions.

Not sure but I think there may be an envelope tool. or something corel has this.
