    how much?

    Hi,

I'm trying to find out how much flash development is going for - can anyone give me a range - for example, how much might something like this run

    www.dkda.com

as opposed to a site with just a flash intro such as

    www.yanceyrichardson.com

I'm just starting to think about subcontractors and knowing nothing about flash or how complicated it is or isn't, I have NO clue what flash development runs.

    Thanks for any insight

    Toni

Personally I dont think you would get a whole lot from either. Though flash does sell for a lot if you make the right stuff. People dont mind pure flash websites as long as it dosent look like just flash. Many websites use flash now and more every day! Just its not as obiouse, it may be a button a top banner or the entire thing. Just they dont look as much like flash as your first example does. I suggest you look into some freelance websites like scriptlance.com and elance.com and see what the price ranges are there.

Be careful not to discuss specific pricing on the forums. It could get us in trouble with price-fixing laws in some countries.

yeah, I was worried about that when I posted the question, the problem is I just don't even know how to go about finding out a range for my inquiry. Sites like elance have some posting for bids, but they seem generally lower than the market bears and don't really give a lot of info on WHAT the bids are for (unless you are a member). Does anyone have any suggestions, short of placing ads for the work myself, on how to research this?

    thanks

Unfortunately, it's hard to price out only Flash development work. I haven't seen very many occasions where somebody is hired just for the Flash and that's it; usually they do some HTML, ColdFusion, graphics, etc. as well.

Figure out want you want for an hourly wage, and then how many hours it would take you to produce a complete site.

Remember to factor in time spent in conversing with the client, phone calls, etc.

And don't forget tax is gonna cut your hourly wage down a lot :P
