actionscripting an "IF" statement on buttons

    basically,
i have a flash movie with several buttons,

when you mouse-over one of the buttons it causes a graphic to slide out, pause, and slide back in again.

i'm trying to rig it so that if you move your mouse from that button to another button while the graphic has already slid out, that it will simply stay out. i'm trying to avoid any 'jerkiness' in the sliding graphic when someone moves from button to button.

thanks a lot for any help possible...

So if they roll over then move the mouse you want it to just slide out and stay out? Not go away?

If so, put a stop() when it slides out, I am not too sure what your trying to do.

Hey, thanks a lot for the response.

    Here's the actual menu - http://www.layaboutband.com

if you mouse over it, it opens, but if your mouse stays stationary, it starts to close. the reason, as i see it, is that the menu names (music, photos, etc) are the buttons, and the brown background is not.

basically, i want it to open and stay open as long as the mouse is there, and the whole thing close when you mouse-off of the menu.

maybe i dont have this setup right, i'm new to it all.

here's a zipped up copy of the FLA if that helps:

    thanks again for any help

Could you not put the brown background into a movieClip of its own and put the code for your menu on that? You might need to re-adjust your paths slightly, but it would mean that your menu would be dealt with as a whole, rather than just the individual buttons.

P.S. Site looks good at the moment, by the way!
