    Design question for selling ebooks

As I understand it, to sell an ebook using a 3rd party credit card processor like Paypal, all a publisher has to do is place a simple hyperlink on her web page that the visitor can click to order the ebook.

This link will lead the customer to the secure payment gateway on the credit card processor's server, where the customer enters his/her credit-card details. Once the payment has been authorized the customer is taken to the site's 'Thank You' page where he/she can download your e-book.

So what's to stop the visitor from going straight to the thankyou page if someone else gives him the URL?

I encrypt my paypal code with this software...
    http://www.data-encryption.net/services.html
So they can't see my thank you page in the paypal form.

There are also some scripts that can stop people from stealing you downloads
