ArtBeast.org is a resource for digital and traditional artist. Though the site is mainly content focused, we're trying to build up a community as well.
    Anyway, what do you think?

    Hi Cougar,

I like the look of the page, very nice treatment with the black bg.

I am also pleased with the centering.

The drop down menus are nice.

But the main fixed menu items are a bit dark. Then the "go" in the search is off horizontal with the two enter blanks.

On the front page there is the valign attribute that is not recognized.

The table nesting may be a bit deep for use with Netscape. If this happens, check the table nesting.

None of the alt= are complete.

None of the possibilities for use of the access= are used.

    Hi,

I like the design but I think you have too much information on the main page.

I think you should make the headline/poll and forum sections on the side smaller, as they take up most of the page.

The dark blue links a bit difficult to see.

I also think you should have an artbeast logo somewhere at the top.

Other than that I think the site looks great!

    Very Nice page.

The only comment I have is when your page loads, it jumps around alot. Try setting the image height and width so it stays in place while it loads.

    Cougar,

First I must say that I really like the domain name, ArtBeast. Sounds so..predatory

I like the way you've used the blue and black, but I found some of the text difficult to read, especially the Headlines portion with the red text. I'd seriously consider making it a lighter color.

I like the use of the pop up menus on your navigation, but if its possible to make them non-sticky, I'd try that. Otherwise they stay there even when the mouse moves away, and it makes it somewhat difficult to read the main content.

Apart from that I think it looks very unique. Thanks for allowing me the opportunity to review it

I really like the design! I guess it has to be good since you are targetting the site at graphics artists :-) but, seriously, it is very well put together. The only problem is that it is somewhat large. It loads fast for me because I am now using an underutilized Internet2 connection, but for 56k dialup users, your page might be frustrating.

The little buttons used in the "Features" and "News" columns are also problematic. The text indicating the category is small and hard to read. I had to stare at the green "Interview" button for a while before I could decipher the text. You might want to try using larger buttons with more dominant text.

Another problem is that you have WAY too much info on the front page. Try retiring individual stories after a certain amount of time to make the home page smaller and more manageable.

The color scheme is excellent, as is the top navigation menu--I even like the custom vBulletin graphics. Great job.

Thanks for the comments, I'll take them all into consideration

As for the load, this shouldn't be to high even for 56k users. The page is Gzipped if possible, and all the pages are cached on the server.
