Does a backdoor for Yahoo really exist or is it a myth?

What do you mean a "backdoor"? To my knowledge, one doesn't exist. Be more specific.

One or two of the site promotion companies mention using a backdoor to get your site listed quickly at yahoo. I've also seen S.E. submitting software that claims to do the same thing. I was wondering if this was just a sales ploy or whether this backdoor actually exists. I would imagine it's not true, or if it were at some time, it has long since been locked!

I've just been looking for an example for you and here's a line I found at a site offering a search engine submitter.

"YAHOO! BACKDOOR - The secret backdoor to be listed at the first shot within the Yahoo! directory. No more dreams !"

Well there is a "backdoor" to getting submitted to Yahoo. That's their business express package. 2 serious problems with this option -- first, it costs $199 second, you have to be a business. Other than this I don't really know of an expedited way of getting listed on Yahoo.

In the early days, when I was a lad, this back door did exist. Prominant web designers and search engine specialists were given a special code which flagged submissions to editors. This gave them the opportunity to get an expedited review on high quality sites to help them build the Yahoo we know today.

Thanks for that Simon. I figured if there once was one then it would have gone by now.
