    New design

Heres my 4th design ive came up with for my website, the others were too fancy, this one is nice and simple, tell me what you think (i might make the borders thinner).

I think that if the page is going to have a good amount of content, those borders will be fine.

Your design is slick and together...keep it up...

    Spelling: "sponsors" not "sponsers"

Fix up the glow on the headings to make it a little more readable. Perhaps ease it off a bit.

Great photos! Are these yours? I like the design overall.

    Looks good...

However the right verticle border looks slightly wider than the left, or maybe that's me...

I like this layout much more. You've got good taste and everything seems to flow together. Keep up the good work!

I like the layout and the design, esp the fact that the musical instrument on the left is in color while the rest of that picture is in B&W.

Also, I'm hoping the top menu has a rollover effect...else it might make the site a bit dull looking.

Marching bands are supposed to be fun etc...see if you can get some colours in there to make it more lively. This one looks good too though.

    looks good! Nice images.

Only suggestion would be to left align the text in the banner graphic ("lionheart" and ">>Mountain") with "::News::". I would also say make the column borders the same as the other ones.

PS - what font did you use for your url, ::sponsers::, and ::new additions::? I like it.

    looks great!

i'd make the "lionheart marching band" text in the header the same gold colour as the instrument on the side panel

Not that the other layouts weren't nice, but I think this one is definitely much better. It's more sleek and in my mind it flows with the idea of a marching band, the other site seemed to more focus on the site than the band.
None the less, it looks GREAT!

Looks very good, I also really like the fact that the instrument is still in brass while the rest of the picture is B&W. Very sharp looking.

Nice layout overall, the only thing I don't like so much is the black background, for a commercial site I tend to go for white's and lighter colours, however that is entirely up to you, and it depends on the look and feel that you want.

The image on the left with the coloured instrument is great, reminds me of KFC's posters, it fits in well.

Nice design! I think borders might look better if a bit thinner. Also I agree with those people that said that the text glow in the header should be more readable. You might also think about centering the navigation but that is just my opinion. Good job!

    Best Regards,
    Andrey

I really like the top border! I like the golow effect.

Also there is something about that pixel font I don't like for the heading (what's new with the band). Maybe try using the same font you used for the title of the page?

As mentioned from other users the top title has a verry difricult to read glow. i think it would look much better melowed down a bit, the white text and the white colour in the background picture just clash in my opinion and make it hard to read too!,

i also think that maybey the menu items could be centered?? don't know just an idea! great design though! good luck!

    hi

    hi,
nice clean images, favorite part is the trumpet. I like how you have used the trumpet as the main feature in the site. Nice work with the heading, i feel you should make the heading more clear. Nice work. You have talent.

As NetKid mentioned earlier, text will change the look of the borders. Don't forget spacings between paragraphs, dividing lines, headings etc., they can all have quite an effect. Get dummy text from www.lipsum.com if you don't already have it.

On the whole, it seems kind of dark for the subject matter. The text on top of the header image is hard to read, and I feel that the header photo itself is too busy.

Suggestions: I would try to stylize things more instead of relying on photographs. Think of what marching band represents and what it means to you. For instance, a slick illustration of the tuba player would likely have more of an impact than the photo. Because of the nature of the subject matter, you also have access to a lot of strong design principles, but repetition comes to mind as being at the top of the list.

Hmm... Its interesting you bring this thread back up. The site with that design has been running for a good while now. You can see it fully running, www.mplionhearts.com, but yes, I am thinking about changing some things. But First I have to switch over to php then i can experiment some more.

its a nice design but really doesnt suit the theme very well the colourised tuba player is a good touch but i would think in needed to be a little more colourful and light
