I am interested in finding out how long it takes you to search the zizap search engine. I run with a cable modem, so I do not know about the speeds for certain areas, 28k modems, 56k modems, DSL, t3, t1, etc...

    Please do this for me:

    # 1) Search for "jokes" , "cash" , "mp3" etc @ http://www.zizap.com . Record how long it takes for the search results to load. Also, please note if the page loads longer because of the banner advertisement.

    # 2) please go to lycos.com /altavista.com and search for the same thing thru there. See how long that takes.

Please post your findings or email them to me @ aaron@zizap.com . I would really like to know if zizap is the fastest search engine on the net (tied with google).

    Zizap,

Hello! I have a DSL connection. I searched for:

    • Cars - 5 seconds (AltaVista - 4)
    • Books - 3 Seconds (AltaVista - 3)
    • Job - 4 Seconds (AltaVista - 2)
    • Microsoft - 4 Seconds (AltaVista - 3)
    • Jokes - 3 Seconds (AltaVista - 2)
    • Cash - 2 Seconds (AltaVista - 2)
    • mp3 - 3 Seconds (AltaVista - 2)

When all is said and done, I would say that your search engine is a lot slower than altavistas. This is especially apparent given that altavista also displays ads and hasa lot more records.

Keep up the good work though. Never stop trying!

When I search it is instant. For me this was FAST!! I am on a cable connection and this is the fastest I have had.

I love the clean straight to the point design.

Cable modem. Also to fast to measure for both Zizap and Alta Vista. I think AV might have been just a little faster on multiple word searches. Single words were about even.

    The search was very fast.

Acouple notes on design - 1)The yellow on yellow seemed extremely bright on my monitor. 2)The light blue for the hyperlink below the description is almost on detectable.

On cable : considering Altavista returns not only results but ads, a complex table layout and other stuff, Altavista wins. However your effort did very well - usually slower than Altavista by about 40% but still pretty good. Well done!

That yellow's a bit bright on my monitor too...

I think the search is pretty fast! I am on a fast dialup. It is a little slower than google, I don't know how many pages there are in your index though.

I'm just wondering, do you plan to release the code for your search engine?

I'm on DSL, and it appeared to me that AV is a little fast then your search engine. Maybe a 1-2 seconds. Most of the time, though, it took a lot longer to load your banner ad, while AV's loaded right up.

Okay it is fast on my 56K line. But, one thing I noticed about your search engine. Whatever you search for, always 10 results are displayed.

And the 10th result is always:

    zizap directory
Find everything that your looking for at the zizap online directory. With hundreds of categories, and thousands of websites, you're sure to find what you're looking for. Just visit dir.zizap.net or click the zizap directory link above.

Are you searching through 10 (in fact 9) records only?
