Traffic stats for a domain for sale

One of my clients is interested in buying a popular phrase domain from a domain broker for their established eCom business and I was wondering what I could do to research traffic on the website as it sits now (as a dumby page). I tried Alexa to no avail. Any suggestions? Thanks!

It would be very hard if it is not listed in any search engines. Is the "dummy" page just a holding page from a registrar or is it a page that was set up by the owner advertising it for sale? If it is the latter, maybe they have stats or logs you can see to verify the traffic to the domain name.

Did you check how many URLs are linked back to it? Thay may help. Is it listed in Yahoo? Dmoz? Search Engines?

As you have already tried Alexa, you may also want to try Ranking.com as they give breif stats on a domains traffic.

If they are arcurate or not, i'm not sure but, they are worth a try!
