Houston, we have a slight problem

if you to www.gamecubecheats.info/gamecube-cheats.cfm you will notice tha games are all listed in alphabetical order and grouped by the letter they are in. Well, I have provided each letter at the top with the appropriate #letter , like #a, #b, etc.. Well, where all the games are listed, the grouped letter is within a span that has an ID= to the specific letter, like <span id="N">.

Now, I would think that by clicking N at the top, it will take you on the page where it says N in the middle of the page. I am on a Mac using Firebird and it doesn't work. I swear when I tested it at home it worked. I had another guy check it out and said it didn't work for him either. whats the deal. Here is some source code

    Code:
his is <b>only</b> a list of the games that contain cheats.</p>
    	<p><a href="#num" class="body">Num</a>
    <a href="#a" class="body">A</a>
    <a href="#b" class="body">B</a>
     <a href="#c" class="body">C</a>
    <a href="#d" class="body">D</a>
    <a href="#e" class="body">E</a>
    <a href="#f" class="body">F</a>
    <a href="#g" class="body">G</a>
    <a href="#h" class="body">H</a>
    <a href="#i" class="body">I</a>
    <a href="#j" class="body">J</a>
    <a href="#k" class="body">K</a>
     <a href="#l" class="body">L</a>
    <a href="#m" class="body">M</a>
    <a href="#n" class="body">N</a>
    <a href="#o" class="body">O</a>
    <a href="#p" class="body">P</a>
    <a href="#q" class="body">Q</a>
    <a href="#r" class="body">R</a>
    <a href="#s" class="body">S</a>
    <a href="#t" class="body">T</a>
     <a href="#u" class="body">U</a>
    <a href="#v" class="body">V</a>
    <a href="#w" class="body">W</a>
    <a href="#x" class="body">X</a>
    <a href="#y" class="body">Y</a>
    <a href="#z" class="body">Z</a></p>
        <h2>Gamecube Games</h2>
        <div class="content-para">
            <p><b><span id="Num">Num</span></b> - <a href="#" class="posted">Top</a> -</p>
            <p><b><span id="A">A</span></b> - <a href="#" class="posted">Top</a> -</p>
Now, I don't know where the problem would be.

    Thanks
    Bryan

p.s. I believe I read somewhere where Zeldman had said don't use a plain "#" symbol.
Always give it a value, even if the page doesn't exist. Is this true, and if so, what should
I call my a href=# in the first line of <div content para>

My initial guess would be that your fragment identifiers in your links are lowercase (<a href="#a">) while your spans are in uppercase (<span id="A">). Make them all the same case and see if that helps any.

he's right. change your 'id' tags to lowercase.

    i.e.
    Code:
    <span id="a">A</span>

well, it's a kludge, not very elegant, and some older browsers may not work the way you'd expect them.

i'd suggest doing the following: add an id (or, if you want to be even more backwards compatible for version 4 browsers and below, create a named anchor) to paragraph
    Code:
    <p id="top"><a href="#num" class="body">Num</a>
(or wherever you want the top to be, really)
    and change the link to
    Code:
    <a href="#top" class="posted">Top</a>
    or something.
