    @Import question--does it cache?

    Just put this rule to use for the first time because, well I designed my first completly tableless site and NN4 really could not hack it. So I used the venerable @import hack to serve NN4 a plain, but readable page and the rest of the world a nice, CSS based page.

    In any case, watching the pages load in IE6 it seems that it takes a second to load the stylesheet every time. Which makes me wonder if going from a <link> to a @media stylesheet scheme causes it not to cache. I really am trying to make the site narrowband friendly, and the HTML is very light, but I do have a rather monstorous 8kb stylesheet and would prefer for folks to cache it.

    So, to the veteran CSS heads, do @imported stylesheets cache?

    What you're experiencing is the "Flash of Unstyled Content", or FOUC, which plagues IE/Windows and Opera.

    But to answer your question, yes the @imported sheet gets cached.

    Sweet, thanks Vinnie. Also figured out why I see it--my IE is set not to cache at all.

    Thanks Vinnie that solves a problem for me (I thought import was just slower at loading so just put up with it - now its fixed ).
