document type does not allow element

I've been trying to make some page XHTML compliant and I've been validating the page using the validator available at W3C http://validator.w3.org. I got the following error message, but ...
... document type does not allow element "blockquote" here; missing one of "object", "ins", "del", "map", "button" start-tag ...
quite frankly, I have no idea what it means. Can anyone help me to understand the error message and to fix whatever problem I need to fix?

I was working on the page locally(while I run a server locally); that's why I couldn't just post the URL.

Well, your crystal ball works. You were right on the target. I was not closing the paragraph; actually, until you pointed out the problem, I did not know how to close the paragraph correctly when "blockquote" is used. Thanks for the help.
